Democracy is only good when you're on the winning team, and I consider that a serious problem with it. I have issues with any system that allows people to oppress each other by majority vote. I don't have an alternative suggestion, either, really, not being a political science major, but if you're asking "how is it really democracy if so many people are getting screwed over?", the thing is, democracy always screws people over (case in point: George W. Bush). So in this universe, that is really democracy. It's just the frustrating, ugly side of democracy -- the one we all ignore when we end up on the winning team.
