Have you ever noticed that boobs float in water? It's finally been warm enough to get in the pool a bit lately, and that is one of the first things I noticed. My mommy-boobs are totally perky in the pool, which is both funny and sad, heh. I wish I could find a comfortable bra that did that...

Speaking of boobs, I was just reflecting this morning that one of the cool things about nursing a baby at this age (14-ish months) is that it works like a reset button. Carter will be whiny and unhappy, and not wanting to be picked up or set down, and nothing is apparently wrong, and then just a few minutes of nursing will be enough to totally turn him around. He curls up in my arms and looks up at me and nurses, and I stroke his hair and his back, and just stare back at him. And then he'll sit up and smile, and wriggle off my lap and be ready to go play. It's like magic, I swear!

I know that moms who don't nurse have their own ways of accomplishing the same thing, but I really enjoy that nursing works so easily. It's like the lazy mom's duct tape. It fixes everything! :-)

I would love to still be nursing when Carter is 3! How awesome. :-)

Hehehe. I have indeed noticed that. Makes it tough to actually get your whole self underwater when taking a bath. ;)

It's really cool to hear you talking about breastfeeding. I still look down at my chest and think, "Those can provide enough nourishment to keep an entire human being alive?!", though! XD

I never really had boobs of any size before, so this is all new for me!

The whole floating boobie thing is no news to me. I have been known to joke about not needing a live preserver when boating because these things do the job quite well on their own. Lets not even talk about what happens when you are standing in the surf with the water up to your shoulders *ouch*.

But yes totally with you on the breastfeeding thing. I nursed Amber for 2 1/2 years and hope to have the opportunity to do the same with this one. I'm not sure about the whole pumping thing this time around, though. I never really did it with Amber since she wouldn't take a bottle and I didn't leave her for more than 4 hours until she was also eating solid foods. This time, I'm going to have to be away from him for 8 hours at a time starting from three weeks after my due date. I think that is freaking me out more than anything else about the whole having a new baby/going back to school thing.

Also: Boobies make it better!

I remember you talking about the life preserver thing before! I can totally see how that would be an issue for you. ;-)

Oh geez, boobs are like a baby valium and bandaid all in one, I don't know how women who aren't nursing get their babies to nap or chill out.

I was talking to Carter's nanny Michelle about this, and she said it's definitely a challenge, but she's got her own ways of doing it.
