We do a cold pre-rinse, a warm cycle and a cold rinse and it's been fine. They were staining until I realized we have hard water (ugh, bane of CDing!) and started putting calgon in the laundry, now they're fine. I do a bac-out soak from time to time too, for that weird ammonia smell that seems to happen from time to time.
I can't wait till we're in Austin, I bet there is a lot of fun stuff at Whole Foods to try for washing!
