This is a great story.  The president of the Oglala Sioux Tribe was incensed when South Dakota's (mostly white male) legislature passed a law banning all abortions, even those resulting from rape and incest, and those that endanger the health of the mother.  She decided that since her tribe is sovereign on their own reservation, they would open a Planned Parenthood clinic there.  One of the state legislatures, when asked about abortions in the case of rape, apparently said that in a case of "simple rape", there was no reason for a woman to consider having an abortion.  0_o  It's hard for me to understand how anyone, let alone an elected official, could be so callous and unfeeling as that.

I'm not sure, but what about ending ectopic pregnancies?  Is that considered abortion under such a law?  It is, after all, a terminatiion of a pregnancy in order to save the health and often life of the mother.  Does that count, or are those women considered just as worthless as rape and incest victims under this law?
