Pregnancy update, Harry Potter

Today I'm five weeks pregnant, which is kind of wild. If you're curious about how the embryo is developing this week, there is a description here. I've been feeling fine, though I'm starting to feel a little nauseated when I get up in the mornings, almost like a mild hangover. It usually goes away when I get something on my stomach. I've been told that's how morning sickness starts, so I'm expecting it to get worse.
I've finally figured out how to give myself my progesterone shots, which I'm very happy about. That's going to save me a lot of time and money going to the clinic every night. I just sit on the bathroom counter and can reach around and dart the needle into my hip. It's actually pretty easy. It was taking at least an hour out of every night to go do it at the clinic, and at $12 a shot, it was really going to rack up. When I realized I might be doing this for a few more months, I decided I needed to be able to do it myself. What a relief that it worked out!
I have another blood test on Wednesday, and I hope to find out then when the first ultrasound will be scheduled. From what I understand, they usually do it at around six weeks, so maybe it would be early next week. I think it will feel a lot more real to me when I can see that little embryo on the screen.
In other news, I am all holed up today reading the new Harry Potter book. The midnight release at Book People last night was really amazing, with at least 1500 people there, half of them in costume. Andrea and I were in costume, but we just blended into the crowd next to a lot of the people there. It felt like New Years Eve, like something I've never experienced before -- and all for a book! It was amazing.
My camera battery died after I'd only taken a few pictures, something it's been doing more and more lately. But other folks took pictures, and I hope to get copies.
This is me and Andrea in the parking garage before we went over to the party. She's dressed as Tonks, and I'm a random Ravenclaw.

There were a lot of activities going on, including dueling. This guy was a really good Draco!

Unfortunately, those are the only two decent pictures I have. The rest are grainy or too dark.
I got home at 2:00 am and stayed up until 5:00 reading, then slept a few hours and read more. I'm halfway through now and just took a few hours off to have a nap, eat dinner, and do my shot, so I'm about to start up again. I've had the TV off ever since, so it's been really quiet around here. I'm not even venturing onto the internet except to post this, so anything could be happening out there, and I wouldn't know!
Doug is in Asia now, and said he's seen people reading the new book everywhere he goes. He even saw a Chinese news report showing people at a midnight book release, mostly in costume! It's amazing to think that so many people in the world are doing exactly what I'm doing today -- reading the same book. :-)

Date: 2007-07-22 01:50 am (UTC)I'm glad you're able to do your shots now. I had horrible morning sickness starting at 5 weeks which got stronger until tapering off around 14 weeks which is when I stopped taking progesterone. I think when you're pg you body makes some plus you are giving yourself the hormone so more progesterone = more moring sickness. I hated it but as you feel I'm sure it was welcomed after all sorts of infertility treatments.

Date: 2007-07-22 04:34 pm (UTC)2.) The HP phenomonon is just amazing. More amazing to me is the people who don't get it; I've been getting teased nonstop by my in-laws for a.) being excited about a book release, b.) wanting to make sure I was home to get my book, and c.) reading the book. *facepalms* Oh, well -- Grant and I have both finished it now!
