This feels really premature, but anyway.

We had some water damage in the room that will become the nursery, and it also affected the ceiling below that room. We've decided to go ahead and get it fixed this spring, and the estimates all include repainting the nursery and the bathroom attached to it. So that means we have to decide how to paint the nursery and the bathroom, long before any baby is in the picture. This is both frightening and exciting, as you might imagine.
Here is the room. The walls will be repainted.

View from the other side.

This is the vanity area of the bathroom attached to the nursery. The wallpaper will be replaced and the area below the chair rail repainted.

This is the little toilet area, which will be repainted.

The plan at this point is to pick a gender neutral color to paint the nursery. I also really like this mural. I'm thinking of getting it in a size that would pretty much cover the wall where the day bed currently is. If we went with that, I'd paint the walls a color that matches.
Similarly, I would like to replace the bathroom wallpaper with some sort of oceany-themed mural. I like this one, though the pier would be right where the door to the toilet is and would get cut out. I'd also like to find something that would go all the way around the room, and I can't see paying that much for wallpaper that's going to be mostly behind a mirror. Hmmm.
Another option is to put up some blank wallpaper that could be painted on and hire an artist to paint a mural. I have no idea how much that would cost. I'd like the little toilet to be an underwater scene, with tropical fish and coral and such. That seems like something an artist would have to do.
I have no interior design skills. Maybe I should just hire a designer who can tell me what to do. :-P
Edit: All right. We both love the African animal mural, so I think that's going to be the piece the whole nursery centers around. I think I'll have the room painted in one of those colors as a base for now, and when the time comes, we'll order the mural and hire a designer to plan the rest of the room around it. We both love southern Africa and have spent a lot of time traveling there, so the idea of a safari-themed nursery sounds like a lot of fun. And hey, think of all the cute stuffed animals!
