New toys

Doug and I have been wanting to get a big TV for the living room for ages. The house came with a beautiful built-in cabinet that had a slot for a TV -- but not for a modern wide-screen TV. People with built-in cabinets everywhere are having this problem, of course, since the old cabinets are not compatible with current TVs.

So we knew we were going to have to hire a carpenter to come out and tear out our cabinet and rebuild it, and we just kept putting that off. It was something we were going to do before the baby came, thinking that we'd be spending a lot more time at home. We decided to go ahead and get it done, and it's AWESOME!!



Here's the before picture. Lovely cabinet, small TV.



The carpenter rebuilt the cabinet around the new TV, which is 61" diagonally. Doug repainted it and got everything hooked up.



It's so cool to have a big screen and HD. He got us a blueray DVD player too, and the one blueray DVD we've watched on it looked extremely cool. :-D

Awesome! I think we have the exact same TV as you do only ours is a bit smaller. I don't know the dimensions off the top of my head but I think I can read "Samsung" on yours and it has the same on/off button illumination that we have. We love that TV!

BTW ... I really like the color of blue you have in your living room.

Aren't TVs awesome these days? The fact that you can have something that HYOOGE and it doesn't weigh 490 pounds and can be put on a cabinet like that is just awesome. :)

What on earth are you watching in the picture, though? :D (The only things I watch are specifically-chosen sci-fi TV shows, so I have no hope of recognizing anything unless it's BSG, SGA, SG-1 or Smallville!)

We also got a flat panel one for our bedroom, and it's incredibly cool. I love how it opens up the room.

I think the TV was parked on Discovery HD at that moment. It was a show about bugs, IIRC. :-D
